Hey all, i've actually never listened to jerome's debut project but have been a NIN fan for some time now and have always enjoyed jeromes input into the band. I just ordered a copy though , so what do you think ,will i be impressed?

thanks , ive been looking around the board alot , reading everyones reviews, and to tell you the truth im actually getting pretty excited about hearing this album. I took kind of a blind jump by buying this album because i purposly have not listened to one song on the album yet. I'm sure it will be great though, and by hearing it for the first time will make it an even better listen. Hell, I might have to dim the lights, run a warm bath and break out that bottle ive been saving for this one , with the way that you guys have been talking about this album lately. But seriously i am really looking forward to hearing it

One more thing , can anyone tell me why the last two letters in nearLY are capitalized. Is there any significance or is it just to put a "style" on the name so to speak?

hey Davidmuzik, welcome to the board! I hope you enjoy here.
About the LY in nearLY, this is a quote from Jerome from the Audiohead interview (http://www.audiohead.net/interviews/nearly/)
In explaining the nearLY project name and his recurring dream, Dillon says, “I could come up with a really artsy-fartsy answer for the capitalized letters, but it would be bullshit. The name nearLY itself was directly related to a recurring dream (or nightmare) that I was attempting to document musically through the record.”

someone pointed out how Jerome's explaination of the LY didn't really explain it. so many have the same question though...i got tired of non fans who kept asking me why he did it....so i started telling them "He did it so you'd wonder why he did it". Perhaps I'll add this question to the interview request thread?

"...cause i repeat the same routine...." waddup dave, when you do get it...you must listen to it at night, all the way through the first time and loud...jerome's orders (he also mentioned a little something about smoking and/or having sex, but i'll leave that up to your discretion) welcome...

Welcome, welcome...
I'm sure you'll be amazed by the album! Like dopp said (and yes, those were Jerome's orders), listen to it at night and all the way through.

yeah i can tell that this is the type of ablum that could be compared to a story that has a beginning middle and end. It is meant to be listened from start to finish. Ill definitely keep in mind about listening at night but i might have to hold that off for the second listen since I'll be receiving it by mail and will prob get it around noon and will be to anxious to get it in my 5.1 sony surround system (which makes the ditgitally remastered downward spiral and with teeth albums sound amazing I might add::: wink wink Jerome: . Unfortunately I've quick toaking on doobies ( fucking job related drug tests) so ill stick to some alcohol perferably wine, i love the blanketing effect. Oh and the sex part will hold off too , i wanna concentrate on the music for at least the first listen, tits are very distrating for me. Its friday right now and the mail already came which means i gotta wait the whole damn weekend to here this. But dont worry guys im not going to cheat , anyway i picked up some music on the way home from class today to hold me over , i got that autolux cd and the cover album from a perfect circle thanks for the warm welcome and tips

Perhaps I'll add this question to the interview request thread? yeh he just told us that the name "nearLY" is linked to the dream, understandable. But whats with capitalizing the last two letters. Maybe in the dream he had a vision or saw a sign that said nearly but the last two letters were capitalized because of some underlying issues embedded deep in the subconscious psyche of jerome's brain thats my guess

dave, I've added this question to the interview request thread....maybe if we get a second chance to have the question posed to Jerome, he can zero in on the "LY" for us. then the mystery will be solved! as for using wine with the album, I can vouch that it works quite well...I too, cannot partake of smoke anymore (been 13 years at least), and that nasty asthma I developed would make it a problem as well..I can barely handle smelling cigarette smoke anymore. I haven't attempted the sex part either. definitely would be something for later listens...and definitely would want to be with someone you'd connect with in a good way...else...I think it would be a bad experience (ie...no listening to reminder while having sex with an ex). someone pointed out how Jerome's explaination of the LY didn't really explain it. so many have the same question though...i got tired of non fans who kept asking me why he did it....so i started telling them "He did it so you'd wonder why he did it".
