rogets, I can sympathize with that...I find myself correcting grammar in lyrics as I listen to songs (bad becky, stop it..it's art! ) I usually turn it inward as a way to poke fun at myself for being too serious though. Marjike - give it time, Claudia will grow on you and in a good way (not like fungus ). Her voice is very different from what is traditionally thought of as a "good" voice. Personally, any issue that I have with her performance is technical and comes from many years of vocal coaching with one instructor. I was taught certain prejudices that I just can't get out of my head.

I was a bit thrown when I first heard Claudia's voice on the Pleasant Smell EP, but I thought her contribution to neaLY was outstanding. Please listen to Prins Hendrik and tell me that that isn't beautiful.

I must have been really impressionable when I was young for these things to stick like they did. For me it's enunciation and pronunciation, which is a much greater concern for the formal style I was trained in. Not so much in popular music. I have to stop and remind myself of what's really important all the time.
