upon the release of certain selections from the score that i did for the marcus dunstan joint, The Collector, i became aware that of one of the songs from the SOUNDTRACK ended up being released on the score highlights compilation and credited to me as the artist. this is incorrect-- and just for clarification, i'll try to clear up the confusion, as i am receiving mail regarding the song, "awake to you" by the band Patient 113.
from the very beginning, before i was ever involved as the composer on The Collector, marcus dunstan did an immense amount of research and placement of music in the original rough cut of the film, which at that point was titled, The Midnight Man. he paced the original edit with specific songs by Depeche Mode, Korn, Bauhaus and many of those same songs eventually made the final cut when the budget was increased for additional post-production and the licensing of music. in addition, marcus wanted to include a 4-track demo recording of the song "awake to you" by the los angeles band, Patient 113, because he felt that it was a perfect fit for the beginning and middle of the film.
the original 4-track demo recording was engineered and mixed by the band's singer and songwriter, andrew reed. marcus wanted to keep this version at the beginning of the film and subsequently asked me to take the original demo and produce and re-mix it for the second time that it appears in the film. engineer mark nolan and i cleaned up the original source recording, added sound design, i played some piano and then we mixed and mastered it.
that is the extent of my involvement and i don't know why the song appears on the score
highlights compilation release, or why i am listed as the artist and/or writer everywhere that the song is available for download.
heading into the studio this weekend to remix a song for the nyc band, Android Lust.
engineer/sound designer, anthony baldino, is at the controls.
more soon,
