Storm I think mentioned this first, and I agree with her about it. We will be receiving our cd's on different days. West Coast first, then the rest of us in the US will get them by midweek. Our international friends will hopefully have by end of next week if the post is running in their area. We need to be thoughtful toward each other during this time, and perhaps those that receive theirs first can start a thread about it, without saying anything specific in the title. Those of us who don't wish to have any info until we get our first listen too, can avoid the thread until we've had our listen if that's what we choose. Does this sound like a good idea? As hard as it will be not to read what everyone has to say as soon as possible, I personally want to have a listen first before I open up to other's ideas. I think a few of us might feel this way as well. What do you guys think about this idea? I'm going to post this in the backstage area too as it's a bit busier than here at the moment, and I want as many of you to give me your opinion of this idea before the cd's start showing up in post boxes. Hugs, becks

i totally agree becky! i'd like to have a listen to the cd before reading other's opinions on it. but its gonna be hard to not read those threads, however im gonna try to stay away from those threads. once i've had a listen to the cd, then i'll read those posts.

It's going to be hard not to read them for me too. I just want to make sure we give people the option on what they want to do. I figure if we don't say anything specific in the subject lines and keep any discussion contained in the threads, that should do the trick.
I'm so excited. If I knew of a local store that would have it available at midnight..I'd be out Monday night/Tuesday morning to pick up yet another copy!

I'm sure it is a good idea, although to be honest...I will probably hide from the boards for a while, if I don't get the discs before Christmas I will probably hide until January when the next post arrives...hey, maybe that would be good for my workload...I might get more work off my plate!
May I suggest a title like "CD discussion" simple but easy to identify for those who don't want to know until they have the cd fully ingested (or should that be digested...ow!)
I'm sure Admin has this in hand tho, and we are worrying unnecessarily!
Take care all,
Email or aim me if you miss me if I'm hiding, just don't mention the music!!!

Considerate idea... can I/we at the very least post a picture of the album, or would that be too teasy?

Considerate idea... can I/we at the very least post a picture of the album, or would that be too teasy? Adam, perhaps if you want to post some artwork only without mentioning the music, maybe start a nearLY artwork thread. Those that would be interested in seeing the art can look at that without worrying about reading feedback on the album. I'd look at the art, but I don't want to read anyones opinion till I've had my first listen. How does that sound?

That would be a good idea. I notice our MadMod has started a review thread (Thank you!) but I don't want to see the art until I have the cd...
I have the itunes download on my ipod but amn't going to listen to it until I get the cd (or the second week in Jan, whichever arrives first) simply because I want the artwork etc...am I the only one who really wants a 12"vinyl* of this work...something in my heart tells me this is something that vinyl should have stuck around for...
Right, AIM me, email me, I'm off to stick my head in a bucket of sand whilst I wait for the postal service to deliver...

Ok, that right there is funny! I think it's a great idea. I'm tempted to download it from itunes just so I don't have to carry my discman halfway across the country but I don't want to listen to it until I have the cd itself in my hands, for me it's an integral part of the experience. I'm not as old school as some, I gladly gave up my records and don't want to go back but I do miss the artwork that used to come with them. I also don't want to have my first impressions influenced in any way by other opinions. Not that I don't want to know what everyone is saying...just not until I've had a chance to formulate my own thoughts.

Storm I totally agree, I bet this would sound wonderful on vinyl. I wonder if JD would consider getting them to make a few up?? That would be a good idea. If so put me down for two copies...one to play one to hide away...that is how I work with vinyl...the hide aways get checked every 2 months (my mum told me vinyl goes mouldy - I have yet to spot this, but she made me paranoid...)...and the plays get played often...I'm glad I'm not the only one...I get cds, but if there is a vinyl, I get that too...just seems more real, although two 12" vinyls means getting up and changing things quite often to get through a work of art...and no repeat functionality...could really break up the flow...y'know

I buy vinyl too but it's moreso as a collectible, as I don't have a turntable at the moment. I just love having the album art in a larger scale.
